[...] Mobio, which we’ve covered previously, is launching the public beta of its mobile application platform today. They’re pitching themselves as a “lifestyle platform” to consumers, where you can access all kinds of data on the go, such as restaurants, weather, and flight schedules. However, to developers, Mobio is a mashup platform, enabling developers to weave together all kinds of information into a single application. More here at Mobile Crunch. [...]

[...] It reminds me of another little of a mobile app called mobio. Mobio is designed for anyone trying to go see a movie. It features film times, reviews and directions to get to the cinema. I can’t think of anything else you might want to know when going to the flicks that mobio can’t tell you about. It’s the perfect example of the small, smart, complete philosophy that I intend to use for as many of my upcoming apps as I can. [...]

[...] A few months ago, we told you about Mobio, a service that used XML mashup-theory to bring about an easy, handheld way to find movie times and related tasks. Mobio, in the intervening time, has been busy, and now offers a full-on army of “widget”-style mini-programs for your Java-enabled phone. [...]

Ok, I'm having a tough time understanding how this platform is going to stand up to flash lite. The app is cute no doubt but its only meant as a showcase for the platform...

Any thoughts Oliver?

Here in Brazil we have a similar service, it´s called u.find (www.ufind.com.br).

It´s a free mobile application, which let us find directions, maps, bars, restaurants, movies (with showtimes), traffic information and weather information.
