Let the Mobile Web Contests Begin

Posted by enid

tapatap.jpgMobile and Web social contest community site Tapatap.com entered beta after securing $2.5 million in Series A funding from Gabriel Venture Partners. Targeted at the teen and generation Y audience, Tapatap members can access the community from any device including mobile phones, Web browsers and embedded Flash widgets. Many of the social activity-oriented activities include photo contests, though other contests center around movies, music, TV, news, sports and lifestyle topics. Early contests planned for the public launch include contests such as Ed Hardy’s “Best Tattoo Artwork” contest, Hudson Entertainment’s “I Wanna Win a Wii” photo contest, Consolidated Skateboards’ “Sickest Skate Photo” contest, and Bench Warmer’s “Bikini Fashion Model” photo contest.

Tapatap founding members have been responsible for the launches of direct-to-consumer businesses including Atlas Mobile, Sorrent (now Glu Mobile), Shockwave.com, CokeMusic.com, and Mplayer.com, at previous jobs.
