Android video walk-through [Updated]
by John Biggs on August 19, 2008

Here is a quick walk-through of the Android OS. Put on some headphones - the voiceover is a little low - but this gives you a fairly clear look at what’s going on inside the new OS.

Update: Audio should be a lot better now.

SPEAK UP! CAN’T HEAR YOU!

Not impressed - iPhone vastly better.

Audio Sux..WTF?? This is The TechCrunch Network..FAIL!!!

what an ugly piece of dogshit. The UI looks like my 12 year old cousin made it. And the handset… couldn’t have picked a better color? how about peach. everyone loves peach.

I had some trouble with the audio but the walk through was interesting. Not overly excited or impressed though.

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?!

NO, I CAN’T

Ok for geek, but for rest of the world this presentation maybe is too much early

How would you type text in that phone?

Seems typical Google…sophisticated looking at first, but ultimately pretty unyielding GUI so far

“Bentley Dubs, you can’t hear that for some reason.”

You can’t hear anything. Go in a conference room to record this if you are afraid of disturbing your cube neighbor.

SPEAK UP!

Wow. I don’t know what’s worse, the user interface or audio quality? Android needs to bake some more, cause ain’t nobody gonna pay money for that. I’m a fan if the idea of android but if that interface is the best they can come up with, it’s user base will be about as large as the that of CDE. Desktop paradigms don’t work on a 3 inch screen.

android is ugly and stupid. i thought it would be much better than this. they need to go back to design board.

How would you type text in that phone?

Considering this is the OS Emulator I would assume you would have a little bit of difficulty typing text.

The phone (Dream) that is being shown on the web has a keyboard that is hidden like a sidekick.

Android will rock when it’s complete - Period.

Wow this is looking good, except for the brokiness parts. I am liking the virtual desktops.

I’ll try to keep up to date on Android news over at http://www.myhtcphone.com

as well as keep a working copy of Android ported to the HTC Touch posted. Again, the site is:

Volume is not a little low its non-existent

OMG I can’t believe anyone is still using BLIP.TV… I have never been able to play more than 5 seconds of video without a delay on any connection. Stick with YouTube guys!
